Outlook Lite on Android is officially retiring on May 25, 2026.

𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

Outlook Lite started as a consolidation move: Outlook Lite and Outlook Mobile were overlapping too much, and Microsoft decided to put all its weight behind Outlook Mobile as the primary mobile experience.

The first real signal came on October 6, 2025, when new installs were blocked. And now, May 25, 2026, is the full stop. After that date:

  • The app will still open (yes, a bit misleading)
  • Mailbox access and in-app navigation will be disabled
  • Accounts and data are safe, just not accessible from Lite.

Easy fix, though. Install Microsoft Outlook Mobile from the Play Store, sign in with the same credentials, and everything carries over.

One thing I genuinely appreciate about this transition is that Outlook Lite never supported Purview features like DLP. Switching to Outlook Mobile doesn’t just restore functionality; it actually improves your compliance posture. And with full Entra ID and Conditional Access support, admins get proper governance back too.

Microsoft gave us a long runway, an early announcement, a clear install block as a warning, and now a firm date.
