End of Support for SSRS Report Viewer SharePoint Web Part

End of Support for SSRS Report Viewer SharePoint Web Part -

Microsoft is ending support for the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Report Viewer SharePoint Web Part on April 13, 2026.

  • While the web part will continue to function, it will no longer receive updates, fixes, or official support.
  • Organizations that rely on this capability within on-prem SharePoint environments should begin planning a transition to a more reliable alternative: embedding SSRS reports in SharePoint using URL access parameters (i.e., the SSRS URL access method).

By shifting to URL-based embedding, organizations can adopt a more modern, lightweight, and reliable way to display SSRS reports in SharePoint—without the “clunkiness” of older web parts.

Even though this announcement is SSRS-specific, it directly impacts reporting experiences in SharePoint, especially for organizations modernizing dashboards and reporting workflows, and gradually shifting toward lighter, more modern embedding approaches (similar to how Power BI is embedded and consumed today).

This is the right time to assess where the web part is still used and plan a clean transition before 2026.
