Copilot Cowork is now live in Frontier, and this is bigger than a new AI feature. This is Microsoft moving from AI assistant → AI executor
- Turns natural language intent into multi-step execution plans
- Coordinates work across Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and files
- Tracks progress with checkpoints and continues tasks over time
- Requires explicit user approval before taking actions
- Lets users pause, adjust, or stop anytime
It’s a lightweight autonomous workflow engine inside Microsoft 365 and is available now for Microsoft 365 Copilot Premium users enrolled in Frontier.
What admins shouldn’t overlook
- Requires Frontier enrollment + enabled agents
- Uses Anthropic as a subprocessor (enabled by default)
- EU tenants → disabled by default (data boundary rules)
- Works fully within existing M365 permissions (no new access layer)
The shift from Copilot as assistant to Copilot as executor is underway. Would you enable this in your tenant today or wait until governance catches up?
