- π΄ OMC traffic: Emails sent using the default onmicrosoft.com domain. Microsoft is throttling this to reduce spam, so if youβre still using it for external communication, itβs time to transition.
- π΄ Direct Send traffic: Applications or services sending emails directly into your tenant without proper authentication. The report surfaces these so you can secure them before enforcement starts.
Many organizations still rely on printers, legacy apps, or temporary SMTP configurations that were never revisited. These setups often run quietly for years, until Microsoft tightens security policies and something suddenly breaks.
Instead of reactive firefighting, we get early visibility to investigate, fix, and modernize mail flow before it becomes a problem.
Overall, this is a strong step from Microsoft toward reducing spoofing risks, phishing abuse, and outdated email practices across Microsoft 365 environments.
