Agent identities are only as accountable as the humans sponsoring them. But when a sponsor changes roles or leaves the organization, that sponsorship needs to move with them.
Microsoft Entra ID Governance can automate agent identity sponsorship transitions using three Lifecycle Workflows tasks.
- Send email to manager about sponsorship changes
- Send email to cosponsors about sponsor changes
- Transfer agent identity sponsorships to the manager
All three are classified as mover and leaver tasks and are available only within mover or leaver workflow templates.
When an agent identity sponsor moves or leaves, organizations can use these tasks to transfer sponsorship responsibility to the sponsor’s manager and notify the relevant managers and cosponsors.
To configure them, create or edit a mover/leaver workflow under ID Governance → Lifecycle workflows, select the required sponsor-related tasks on the Tasks page, review the configuration, and create the workflow.
This brings sponsorship continuity into existing identity lifecycle automation, helping organizations maintain human accountability for agent identities without manually tracking every sponsor transition.
