Microsoft is finally cleaning up one of the most frustrating parts of Entra audit logs.
The rollout for improved Authentication Methods Policy Update audit logs in Microsoft Entra ID has officially started this month.
Previously, even a tiny configuration change could flood audit logs with the entire authentication methods policy payload under modified properties.
Now, audit logs will surface only:
• The properties that changed
• The old values
• The new values
One important thing to note: Organizations using automated log parsing, alerting, or custom processing workflows should review any logic that currently expects the full policy payload.
Sometimes the most impactful Microsoft 365 updates are the ones that quietly remove everyday admin frustration.
