AI-powered regulatory templates in Purview Compliance Manager introduce a new way to turn regulatory documents into structured, actionable controls.
We often spend a significant amount of time interpreting lengthy regulatory documents and manually translating their requirements into actionable controls.
This new feature was made available through the Create new template experience.
- It lets us upload our own regulatory PDF instead of building an entire template manually.
- The uploaded document is then converted into a template that can be used to create assessments in Compliance Manager.
Instead of starting the assessment setup from scratch, we can use the generated template as a structured starting point for translating regulatory requirements into actionable controls.
The document goes through three stages:
Scan for malware → Extract controls → Map controls to existing improvement actions
This is what makes the capability more interesting than simply using AI to summarize a regulation. The objective is to take the requirements within a regulatory document and turn them into a usable template that supports a structured compliance assessment.
Admins can also continue to start with a blank template and define controls manually. The new capability therefore adds another approach to template creation rather than replacing the existing process.
I know many of you may have already explored this during Public Preview back in November 2025, but it is now moving toward general availability in October 2026 for everyone.
The feature is additive, available by default, and does not require changes to existing configurations or workflows.
