Microsoft is introducing a new cloud policy in Microsoft 365 that allows organizations to automatically apply watermarks to AI-generated or AI-modified video and audio content.
With this policy enabled, any video created in tools like Clipchamp or audio content generated through Copilot (such as audio overviews from Word documents) will include a visual or audio watermark indicating that AI was involved in its creation.
This will be managed through a new Cloud Policy setting called: “Include a watermark when content from Microsoft 365 is generated or altered by AI.”
A few key points to be aware of:
- The policy applies only to video and audio content
- AI-generated/edited images are not included in this setting.
- Image watermarks will be controlled separately by users through Microsoft account privacy settings
The feature is expected to roll out around February 2026. I’ll share more details on configuration and real-world behavior once the policy becomes available in my tenant.
