Most access reviews still rely on manual checks and judgment calls. So, this new Access Review Agent in Entra is introduced to simplify and speed up every decision.
- It automatically gathers insights, such as user activity, account status, past review history, and employment changes, and then generates clear recommendations (approve/deny) with justification summaries.
- Reviewers can complete reviews right inside Microsoft Teams using simple, natural language chat. The agent explains its reasoning, answers questions, and helps reviewers make confident, informed decisions, without having to jump between portals.
- It runs via the Microsoft Entra admin center and requires Entra ID Governance or Entra Suite licenses, along with Security Copilot access. Once enabled, it automatically scans for active access reviews to process.

- (Multi-stage, Entra roles, and PIM-managed groups are not yet supported.)⚠️
The agent operates with an admin identity for insights, but final decisions are logged under the reviewer. Reviewers can finally skip the time-consuming research phase and focus purely on decision quality! This is still in Preview, but it’s a strong glimpse of how AI and Teams together are transforming identity governance.
