Microsoft has announced the deprecation of SCOM Management Packs for:
1) SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
2) Power BI Report Server (PBIRS)
3) SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
Deprecation Timeline:
January 2026: Deprecation announced
January 2027: End of support
After January 2027, these MPs will receive no fixes, no security updates, and no support for SQL Server 2025 or SCOM 2025. Existing MPs may continue to run in SCOM 2019/2022, but they’ll be in an unsupported state.
Microsoft’s clear direction here is a shift away from classic SCOM MPs and toward Azure-based monitoring, even for on-prem workloads.
The recommended path:
• Azure Arc
• Azure Monitor
• Log Analytics
• Azure Monitor Workbooks
If your BI workloads are business-critical and still monitored only via SCOM MPs, 2026–2027 should be treated as a transition window.
