Legacy SharePoint Compliance Features Retiring in April 2026

Microsoft is retiring several legacy SharePoint Online information management features starting April 2026 and they will no longer be supported or accessible after that.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅:
1. Information Management Policies
2. In-Place Records Management
3. Legacy document deletion policies (deletion-only)
4. Legacy site closure & deletion policies

If your organization still relies on any of these, you’ll need to migrate to Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management and Purview Records Management before April 2026.

Now is a good time to audit which legacy policies are still in use and start planning the transition – before this becomes a last-minute compliance fire drill.
