Admins can now invite users to their Entra ID tenant and provide them access to Azure Virtual Desktop resources โ€” a big step toward simplifying secure collaboration across organizations.

To use this, session hosts must be running Windows 11 Enterprise (24H2, KB5065789 or later), Entra-joined, and configured for SSO. External users can connect through the Windows App or a web browser.

A few limitations apply:

– FSLogix isnโ€™t supported yet, Intune device policies donโ€™t apply to external users.
– Currently limited to the Azure public cloud.
– Cross-cloud invites (like Azure Government or 21Vianet) arenโ€™t supported for now.

Still, this is a significant move that brings more flexibility to how organizations can securely extend their virtual desktop environments beyond internal users.
