One tenant becomes the โ€œauthority of security groups,โ€ others become copies, and access control depends on scripts, sync jobs, or manual updates that no one fully trusts.

This gap has existed in Microsoft Entra for years. There was no native, supported way to sync security groups across tenants. We filled the gap with B2B, shared channels, Graph automation, and third-party tools, but never designed for cross-tenant group lifecycle management.

That gap is finally being addressed. Microsoft Entra is introducing Cross-Tenant Security Group Synchronization.

The Preview starts from Jan 2026, and from that, Entra will support:

  • Native synchronization of security groups across tenants
  • Automatic replication of group memberships
  • Centralized group management from a source tenant
  • A supported model without custom scripts or brittle automation
  • Preview: January 2026
  • Rollout: April 2026
