Many users accidentally click “Sync” when they only need a shortcut, leading to unwanted downloads and device clutter.

To simplify file access, Microsoft is making a small but important change in OneDrive for Business and SharePoint.

Starting late July 2025, the “Add Shortcut to OneDrive” command will appear above “Sync” in document libraries.

📅 Global rollout will complete by mid-August 2025.
